A Voice That Still Speaks

Why this lab exists, how it sources, and who built it

Purpose

The heart behind the lab

Charles Spurgeon preached to thousands each week in Victorian London, and his printed sermons still strengthen believers around the world. This lab was built to make that treasury easy to explore.

The Charles Spurgeon Research Lab is an independent labor of love. It helps believers, pastors, and students find Charles Spurgeon’s biblical answers across nearly four decades of preaching, linking directly to the complete sermon transcripts. It is a research aid, not a substitute for personal Bible study or the local church.

Independence

Our relationship to The Spurgeon Center

This independent research site helps readers explore Charles Spurgeon's publicly available teaching. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Spurgeon Center; source material is credited and linked to its original location at spurgeon.org.

  • The lab is not authorized, sponsored, or reviewed by The Spurgeon Center, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, or the Metropolitan Tabernacle.
  • All sermons, transcripts, articles and related content remain in the public domain or the property of their publishers, including The Spurgeon Center. We show only short excerpts for research and point readers back to the source.
  • We do not use The Spurgeon Center logos or branding, and we never present answers as official statements.
  • Every result names the sermon or article title, its date and scripture where listed, and links directly to the page on spurgeon.org.

If The Spurgeon Center would like anything changed or removed, please write to us and we will act promptly.

Method

How answers are researched and verified

  1. Live search. Each question triggers a fresh search of public sermon transcripts, sermon pages and articles at spurgeon.org.
  2. Grounded summary. An AI research assistant reads only the pages that search returns and writes a short summary of what they say, numbering each source it relies on.
  3. Word-for-word check. Before an answer is shown, every quoted excerpt is matched exactly against the text of the spurgeon.org page it came from. Any quote that doesn't match is removed.
  4. Honest limits. When sources are thin, the answer says so rather than filling gaps. Dates and verses appear only when the original page lists them.

AI summaries can still misread context. Always read the linked sermon before quoting or teaching from it.
